FOC Report #1 (1/13/2025)
Hello kind Big B Customers! This is my first time doing anything like this so please... be gentle.
This column will highlight items solicited each week during FOC that could be potential points of interest. Either brand new series, or something I think might deserve more attention (sometimes positive attention, sometimes not). These items are scheduled to ship to the store in about 3 weeks, but you should order them now to make sure that you get your copies (you can do so over here).
Remember, pre-ordering is your friend and ours. There are lots of items that we don't normally order or order only in small quantities. If there's something you really want, place an order with us! For more information on becoming one of our many happy comic subscribers, check out this page.
Now that that's all out of the way, let's get into this week's books.
Maybe the tentpole book on this week's FOC is One World Under Doom #1. Doctor Doom, now Sorcerer Supreme, has declared himself Emperor of the World, creating a United Latveria. Global leaders seem to comply, but Earth's heroes form a team to stop him. However, some begin to embrace his rule. Written by Ryan North who's been having a phenomenal run on Fantastic Four, this is one I can't wait to check out. Sporting a cool 7 different covers. Marvel is pushing Doom insanely hard in the coming months (see Doom Academy) after announcing RDJ's return in the MCU as the titular character.
Red Hulk #1, a One World Under Doom tie-in AND promo for Red Hulk's upcoming appearance in the new Captain America movie. Looks like Doom's got Thunderbolt Ross locked up somewhere and Red Hulk does what Hulks tend to do best- smash.
Marvel is re-releasing It's Jeff #1 in a 4th Print and It's Jeff: Into The Jeff-Verse #1 2nd Print in an attempt to capitalize on his popularity in the new Marvel Rivals video game! And why not? Who doesn't love Jeff the Land Shark? Oh... and for anyone who didn't know, last time It's Jeff was coming up, I auto-subbed any regulars named Jeff to It's Jeff. If your name is Jeff and you're reading this, don't worry, you're safe this time.
Last Days Of Lex Luthor #1 2nd Print. Superman discovers that Lex Luthor is dying and asks for his help to find a cure for his rapid decline. Despite the world's desire to see Luthor gone, Superman is determined to travel across the universe, through dimensions, and through time to save his enemy. You may or may not recall this book already coming out... alllll the way back in September 2023. This 2nd print serves as a reminder that this 3 issue series hasn't wrapped up, and a promise that issue #2 will be out soon (fingers crossed). If you missed out on the initial print, why not snag a pre-order? We probably won't have many in stock, as the large format comics aren't the craze around here. DC's Black Label has been knocking it out of the part recently with some really great stories, it's just unfortunate that we all age significantly while waiting for the next issue. Hopefully some day they can get it together.
Batman #157 with a really cool Jorge Jimenez Foil Cover that's a bit of a throwback to where Chip and Jorge's run started at #125. Of which we still have plenty if you're interested in reading the beginning of the run, or if you just want to display the 2 covers together. #157 of course marks the last issue for this team before we get into the Hush 2 storyline with Jim Lee and Jeph Loeb returning (more on that in a few weeks!).
Two small but mighty Facsimiles in Daredevil #1 Facsimile from Marvel and Detective Comics #31 Facsimile from DC Comics.
And finally, I'll leave you with something from Image Comics. A new Spawn title! No Home Here #1. AÂ new chapter in the Spawn Universe that reveals the fate of seven-year-old Sherlee Johnson, the victim of serial killer Billy Kinkaid. The story follows her harrowing journey with The Stranger, uncovering the world she now lives in. Created by Daniel Henriques with art by Jonathan Glapion, this series explores unseen parts of the Spawn Universe. I don't read Spawn, I don't keep up with Spawn all that much, but I appreciate that McFarlane has been expanding the universe a little bit over the last few years. I think this one might slip under the radar for Spawn fans so I wanted to make sure that you at least see it before it's on the shelf!
If you made it this far, thanks for reading! I don't usually like to gab too too much, but I'm going try and make this a regular thing for you folks. I talked about a few titles here, but there's lots more available on our Pre-Orders page.
